Point Bock Run Recap

Whew! I had such a fun weekend. On Saturday I was able to participate in the Point Bock 5 miler in Stevens Point, WI. Since I am still not totally back up and running I was able to enjoy walking the race with my beautiful and unfortunately also injured friend, Alicia.

We are supposed to both be pointing to our bootys - the source of our injuries. Alicia got the memo; I must have heard "Act like a gimpy bird"

We enjoyed the gorgeous winter day and cheered for all the runners we saw on the out and back portion of the course. The first 2 miles of the race were into a pretty strong headwind, but once we hit the turn around it was at our backs for the rest of the race. We were even able to run in the last quarter mile or so and finished in 1:11:07. Kim, who had a fantastic race, met us at the finish with some shots that other runners were generously pouring for everyone. That's the first time I've ever taken a shot at the finish line of a race! I am so freaking hardcore (insert sarcasm here). Next, we headed to the beer tent for the delicious Point beer.

Happy that I was able to walk the race. One advantage is I wasn't sweaty afterwards!

Kevin couldn't resist the Wisconsin tradition of brats at the post race party. YUM!

I love this race - and it is a very popular one here in Wisconsin. It fills up within days of registration opening and has a great post race party - beer included. Here's hoping I will be able to race it next year!

Have a great Monday!
