As I was leaving my dentist's office on Monday I saw a great bumper sticker on the car parked in front of me:
So many questions run through my head: Did they fall down at the starting line? Was the race cancelled? What was their finishing time? I must know so I can compare my 0.0 pace!
Obviously it's a jab at all the 13.1 and 26.2 stickers runners have on their vehicles. I don't have any on my car, but I do feel a sense of camaraderie when I pass a car on the highway with one. (Asshole question: Do you ever look in the vehicle to see the person who has a 26.2 sticker and then think: "There's no way that person ran a marathon!"? I'm such a terrible person sometimes.)

I hate those family stickers! And yes, I have had that same thought about the race stickers. But usually I think "they must have walked it" Rude I know:)

ReplyDeleteI can't help but feel like my car says "boom" when I pass a car with 13.1. Mine says 26.2 and I wear it proudly. I always felt trumped when I was passed by a 26.2er when I had the 13.1.
ReplyDeleteI also totally check out the person in that car. A lot of times, Mike drives my van and I really hope people look in the car and see me and him and then say "Oh yeah, she is the one"
My favorite, for real, was a car with one stick woman on it. I was so happy when I saw that! :) I am not one to deck out my car anymore, ever since I lost my Cherry Coke sticker when the Topaz got sold, but I totally would have rows and rows of catbabies otherwise! :)

I've got the 13.1, 26.2, and >26.2 stickers on my car. Every time I go a longer distance a got another sticker. I figured the >26.2 would take care of a lot of them and avoid the need for more stickers. LOL

ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHA, I freaking love this post!! I don't have a 13.1 or a 26.2 even though I've completed many of both. I DO have a 70.3. My main goal is to get the 140.6 really. I'll slap that puppy on my car hopefully before the end of the year. Notice how I say "hopefully". I'm superstitious.
